Covid-19: Leeds Council Business Grants (Lockdown No.2)

Dear businesses,


We have been informed by Leeds Council that they will again be providing businesses with National Lockdown Grants as per the support they provided in the first lockdown.

These grants are still being developed so we would urge you to please:

  • save the link below and check back regularly for updates
  • read the information in the link to understand if your business may qualify, and
  • click on the button to ‘Express Your Interest in the Business Support Grant’, to enable Leeds Council to contact you direct.


National Lockdown Grant

Eligibility for this grant is based on your business’s rateable value, as follows:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under, grants to be £1,334 per four weeks
  • For properties with a rateable value of over £15,000 and below £51,000, grants to be £2,000 per four weeks
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over grants to be £3,000 per four weeks

The above will be paid in one payment.

An application form has been developed and payments will be made through the Business Rates Dept. Information will appear on LCC’s Covid-19 Business pages next week:


Local Authority Tier 2 Impact Support

Local Authorities will also receive an amount to support businesses for the impact of Tier 2 restrictions and we will have more detail shortly.


Discretionary Fund

LCC also have a discretionary fund that they are working through and will launch this as soon as possible.


Takeaway and Click & Collect Business Eligibility

There is nothing in writing yet but indications are that where a pub, restaurant or café introduces a takeaway service they will still be eligible for a grant but businesses whose income was primarily derived from takeaways prior to the national restrictions will not. Clear definitions of this distinction which will be published by Leeds Council in a Q & A which should be available later this week.
