Directors Needed!

As you can see from our Director’s Gallery, at the recent AGM 2 of our Directors (Rory McQuaid and Elspeth Harrow) both stepped down. At the moment our 4 Directors provide the following areas of expertise – 2 in retail, 1 in the service sector and 1 in events.

Several of these directors have been on the BID Board since it began nearly 10 years ago and have indicated that they do not want to be the main faces of a 3rd term.



If the town’s businesses want to have a Business Improvement District from April 2024 we need some new directors to come forward ASAP with new ideas, or an enthusiasm for continuing with the current BID initiatives.

The new Directors will need to be on board THIS SUMMER to ensure that a new 2024-2029 Business Plan can be created and voted upon during Autumn 2023.

We know it all seems a long way off, but in planning terms it really isn’t. To give you a feel for it, here’s the timescale;

🗓 Now – new directors join the existing Board and get a feel for what happens now, and think about what improvements could be made.
🗓 Autumn 2022 – all directors start to work on an updated Business Plan.
🗓 Spring/Summer 2023 – the Business Plan is published and distributed and we begin raising awareness of the vote amongst the members.
🗓 Autumn 2023 – the official vote takes place.
🗓 April 2024 – if the vote is successful, the new 5 year term begins. If it is unsuccessful, or we choose not to go for a 3rd term the BID is wound up.
