*NEW* – Otley’s Music in the Market Place brings a relaxed Summer vibe to your Saturday independent shopping experience this July and August.
This event is FREE and is a series of busking gigs in Otley Market Place from 11am – 1pm.
Organised / fully funded by Otley Business Improvement District, there’s a different genre of music to enjoy every week whilst you wander the cobbles and ginnels of this historic market town. Featuring the following artists, and please remember to give generously:
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 12TH JULY:
A 24-year-old Indian singer-songwriter/musician, currently based in Leeds. A free-flowing artist who writes songs that feel true to them, they bare their soul through the music they create. With a fusion of influences ranging from Joni Mitchell to Noah Kahan to indian folk music, Gamini invites their listeners to explore the depths of emotion and the universality of their lived experiences, creating an intimate and introspective musical experience.
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 19TH JULY:
Al will be performing a two hour set of guitar instrumental music. The set will include popular song melodies (old and new), classical guitar classics, Spanish music, original compositions and a range of folk music from all across Britain and Ireland.
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 26TH JULY:
Easton grew up in Wallsend, Newcastle and wears his heritage on his sleeve through his satirical lyrics and personality. Acoustic guitar driven progressive rock.
A seated one man blues band. With his foot drums, harmonicas and 1935 guitar he creates a full band sound that gets feet tapping. Influenced by OMB’s like Bob Log III, Joe Hill Lewis as well as songwriters like Robert Johnson and Tom Waits he will bring a range of old songs and originals to Otley Market Place.
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 9TH AUGUST:
A Leeds based folk singer currently studying at the Leeds Conservatoire, with a combination of traditional folk sounds, mixed with a modern pop twist she is sure to take you on a journey throughout multiple genres.
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 16TH AUGUST:
Genevieve Begley is a Leeds-based jazz singer, performing alongside guitarist Jew Hewer. Together, they blend traditional jazz with contemporary pop influences for a fresh take on classic and modern sounds.
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 23RD AUGUST:
Katerina is a passionate musician based in the UK, who explores the worlds of songwriting, busking and performing. Her soulful vocals and rhythmic guitar will both soothe you and keep you on your toes as you hear some unexpected combinations of sounds driven by soul, folk- rock and elements of world music including Bulgarian Folk Music. Her influences come from artists such as Madison Cunningham, Izzi Ray and Bonnie Raitt.
WHAT’S ON – SATURDAY 30TH AUGUST:
A recent Graduate from the Leeds Conservatoire, Niamh blends traditional classic music with pop, folk and even Jazz! Allowing the Harp to be experienced in a contemporary fashion.
