Following the success of last Summer’s event, Music in the Market Place is back for a 2nd year, bringing a relaxed soundtrack to your Saturday mornings in Otley.
Organised and fully funded by Otley Business Improvement District (Otley BID), this FREE series of live busking sessions will take place in Otley Market Place every Saturday from 10am – 12noon throughout July and August.
Each week, visitors can enjoy a different style of music from talented local performers while exploring Otley’s independent shops, browsing the market stalls or stopping for a coffee in one of our fantastic cafés.
So take your time, wander the cobbles and ginnels of our historic market town, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy everything Otley has to offer this Summer.

Saturday 25th July – Eve’s Jazz Duo
Genevieve Begley is a Leeds-based jazz vocalist known for her warm tone and expressive interpretations of traditional jazz repertoire. She regularly performs across Yorkshire and is a familiar face on the local scene. For this special performance at Otley Market, she is joined by guitarist Jeff Hewer. The duo return following their appearance here last year to share a relaxed set of classic jazz favourites.
Saturday 1st August – Niamh Folk Harp
Niamh Flynn is an electro-acoustic harpist based in Leeds. Blending contemporary pop, film scores, and classical repertoire, she brings a fresh, modern style to the harp. Alongside her covers, Niamh creates original music using live looping, building rich, layered soundscapes in real time.
Saturday 8th August – Jamie’s Jazz Sax Duo
The Jamie Gallacher duo explores a wide range of compositions made throughout the history of jazz. The duo takes the classic sounds of the likes of Lester Young and Dexter Gordon creating a distinctive performance not to be missed!
Saturday 15th August – Edward Jones & Robin Marsh
Guitarist Edward Jones and bassist Robin March are both highly involved in the Leeds Jazz scene and come together to perform a selection of their favourite Jazz pieces. Expect well known standards, tunes from the likes of Wes Montgomery and Kanny Barron and some originals too.
Saturday 22nd August – Kirsty Elgin Duo
Just About Functionin’ are bringing a stripped-back acoustic set to Otley, featuring the band’s lead singer (Jamie) and bassist (Kirsty). Blending Just About Functionin’ tracks with original songs from Jamie Wray, the set focuses on raw sound and honest songwriting!
Saturday 29th August – Sara Page
Sara Jasmin Page is a singer-songwriter and pianist relocated to Otley from London. She performs acoustic covers of popular songs as well as her own original music, influenced by classical, folk and jazz styles and inspired by her favourite female artists like Tori Amos, Regina Spektor and Laufey.
